LEARN ENGLISH IN CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge is the administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire. The city has become recognized for its cutting edge technology. Locals even refer to it as "Silicon Fen." It is also one of the major constituent parts of the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. The town itself is fairly compact, and tourists can get around easily on foot.
Cambridge has been described as one of the most beautiful cities in Britain and whatever time of year you visit, it has plenty to offer. Walk along the Backs, the famous grass-covered banks of the River Cam, which are carpeted with daffodils in spring. In summer, take a punt along the river and enjoy the architectural glories of the riverside colleges.

Cambridge is home to one of Britain's ancient universities, Cambridge University, which has no campus but is made up of thirty colleges. Many famous people, including Isaac Newton, John Milton, and Virginia Woolf, have graduated from Cambridge. The university has also been the school for more than sixty Nobel Prize winners.

The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two, along with the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital in the far south of the city and St John's College Chapel tower in the north.

Decent restaurants are usually full because Cambridge is home to a large population of students. Cambridge City has a little higher proportion of people from minority ethnic groups than England and Wales. The largest non-white ethnic groups are "Asian" or "Asian British", "Chinese" and "Other Ethnic Group".

Apart from the colleges, dating from the early 1200s to mid 1900s, the University has many other historic and beautiful buildings. From the stately grandeur of Senate House and the Greco-Roman face of the Fitzwilliam Museum to the modern colors of the Judge Institute and the prized glass chapel at Fitzwilliam College, architectural marvels abound to suit all tastes.
