London is a region of England, also commonly known as the Greater London area. Greater London is composed of the City of London and the 32 London boroughs surrounding it. The urban sprawl of the metropolis covers a roughly similar area, with a slightly larger population. Beyond this is the vast London commuter belt. Almost one third of London's total area is made up of green spaces, with 143 registered parks and gardens.

he City of London is the oldest part of London, and yet with its towering sky scrapers it is also the most modern. St Paul's Cathedral is the most visited spot in the City. Built after the Great Fire to replace the Church that had previously stood there, St Paul's galleries and crypt are legendary.

London is also home to Britain's national art collections, the Royal family is owner of major attractions and Wonders of London. In London there are currently four World Heritage Sites: Palace of Westminster, Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich and Kew Gardens and 17 national museums across the capital.

London is a very accessible city; it has five international airports, an efficient road network and extensive Underground and a large port. It serves as the largest aviation hub in the world, and its principal airport, Heathrow, carries more international passengers than any other airport in the world.

Year Round English 25

Our Year Round English 25 course run from Jan - June 2012 & Sep - Dec 2012 and students can start on any Monday. Students study 25 hours per week. The 25-hour course gives students further skills lessons to improve speaking, listening, reading and writing. See timetable in brochure for more details. On completion of their course, students receive a certificate stating the level attained. A report from your teachers outlining progress made during the course is available on request.

FCE and CAE Exam Preparation Course

Select English London is an exam centre for Cambridge examinations. Cambridge exams are the most popular certificates for learners or English in the world, and are widely recognized by thousands of educational organizations and companies all around the world. The FCE (First Certificate in English) and CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) preparation courses are a combination of 15 general English hours per week and 10 exam preparation hours. The school offers these course three times per year: in March, June and December, and start up to 9 weeks prior to the exams. For the FCE students have to be at upper-intermediate level and for the CAE exam preparation course students have be at least advanced level. The examination can be taken at the school as part of the course, but it is not compulsory.

IELTS Preparation Course

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) internationally recognized test, perfect for those students who are going to study in an anglophone university, or to work in an English-speaking company.
Select London offers a four-week IELTS preparation course. This course is a combination of 10 hours of IELTS exam preparation and 15 hours of general English per week.
You must be at least upper-intermediate level (according to the school test) to book this course.
The examination can be taken as part of the course, although it is not mandatory. The IELTS test can be booked and paid directly at the school and is available at a nearby test centre most Saturdays.

Intensive Christmas course

The school is a one of few in the UK that is open at Christmas, in this way taking the course is a great opportunity to experience London during this an English Christmas. The course starts a week before Christmas and can be booked for two to three weeks.

Intensive English Course

This course runs all year round and you can start any Monday. You will have 25 general English lessons per week. The length of the course is up to you: from a minimum of 2 weeks, up to a long duration course. All lessons are 60 minutes. The 25 hour course offers grammar based lessons linked to a variety of topics. Different skills are also integrated from the beginning and throughout the program. The 25 hour course offers skills based lessons in the afternoons. In this way students have the proper time for further practice in speaking, reading, listening and writing.

The four language skills are integrated from the beginning to all lessons: speaking, listening, writing and reading.
This course let you time enough to know London, or to study by yourself in the school facilities.
